Multi-Tenant Architecture

< 1 min read

The Energy System Builder (ESB) supports a secure Multi-Tenant Architecture. This enables engineering firms, solar installation companies, non-profit chapters, and educational institutions to manage projects under a single organizational umbrella while maintaining strict access controls.

In ESB, accounts are structured hierarchically into Organizations (Parent Accounts) and Members (Child Accounts):

  • Parent Account (Tenant Root): Represents the primary business entity or community group. It owns the shared data space, billing/subscription settings, custom hardware libraries, and organizational templates.
  • Linked Child Accounts: Individual user logins linked to one (or multiple) parent organizations via secure invitations.
  • Tenant Isolation: Every database query is scoped to a unique tenant_id. Your organization’s proprietary load profiles and custom equipment specs remain strictly invisible to other organizations using ESB.
