Energy Source Mix

< 1 min read

On the Inputs form, you can list multiple energy sources and assign each a target percentage of daily demand—e.g., Solar 80% / Wind 20%, or Solar 120% to intentionally oversize and export surplus. The array size and wind turbine count are calculated based on whatever percentage you assign, rather than defaulting to 100%. Anything left uncovered, or any surplus over 100%, is automatically handled by Line (Grid), which appears as a read-only row on the Dashboard: a positive percentage indicates the grid is backing up a shortfall, while a negative percentage represents surplus energy available to export for net-metering credit.

To configure wind, pick a specific model from the Wind Turbine Product dropdown (managed on Presets) rather than entering specs manually. Wind sizing uses a simplified estimate (rated turbine watts × assumed capacity factor). Keep in mind that the capacity factor listed in the presets is a default assumption, not a site-specific guarantee—always obtain real, site-specific capacity factor data before purchasing turbines, just as you would verify Peak Sun Hours (PSH) data for solar.
